Stories from the Home Front
The experiences of ordinary people—evacuees, land girls, factory workers, families left behind—give depth to the broader history we tell. We work with community groups, reminiscence projects, and individuals to record and share these accounts so they are not lost.
Contributing your story
If you or your family have memories, letters, or photographs from the wartime period that you would like to share, we would be glad to hear from you. We can arrange a conversation or a visit, and discuss how your material might be used in our exhibitions and archive while respecting your wishes.
How we use stories
Stories inform our exhibitions, education programmes, and digital archive. With permission, we may use extracts in displays, publications, or online. We always treat contributors with care and ensure that sensitive details are handled appropriately.
